ABOUT THIS POSITION

Our company manufactures steel racking for various customers. We are seeking a candidate who is mechanically inclined and has previous roll forming experience to fill the position of Coil Line Operator at our Whitby facility. This candidate must have experience working with machinery, able to troubleshoot machinery and make necessary adjustments in order to produce quality parts coming out of the machine. Please note, this is not an entry level position and only qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATION:

  • Lift truck license (An asset)
  • WHMIS Training
  • Propane Training (An asset)
  • Overhead Crane Certification
  • Lockout / Tagout Training

 

DUTIES:

  • Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA)
  • Set-up of all safety equipment, guards etc on coil line
  • Perform pre-shift inspection of machinery & enter into log
  • Perform monthly preventative maintenance & enter into log
  • Observe all safety regulations of machinery
  • Read blueprints
  • Fill out all required forms
  • Pile beams and uprights in rack
  • Pile uprights and strap on a skid
  • Use crane to load coils on decoiler
  • Pull material from decoiler to feeder on machine
  • Load and unload dies using lift truck
  • Die set-ups and die changes
  • Set-up of machinery and roll forming equipment
  • Oiling and greasing of stamping and roll forming equipment
  • Quality control of parts being manufactured
  • Adjustment of rollform to ensure continuous quality of parts

When material handler is not available:

  • Put away coils
  • Empty scrap buckets
  • Move own loads
  • Label and tag any die that requires sharpening. Ensure it is clearly marked and deliver it to the maintenance area
  • Tag finished products with all required information
  • Daily general housekeeping, all materials placed in designated areas, clean up all scrap that has come off the machines
  • Other tasks as assigned by the company
  • Attend all continuing education and required job related training provided by the company

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Some heavy lifting required- up to at least 50lbs
  • Manual material handling may be necessary
  • Standing / Repetitive tasks involving bending and twisting for long periods of time
