North American Steel is a leading manufacturer of Steel Pallet Racking and Industrial Storage Systems. We have been helping our customers to successfully and efficiently increase capacity, build higher, grow larger and stay on schedule since 1972. We are currently looking for a Design Engineer in our Whitby, Ontario location.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural/Mechanical engineering.
  • EIT or P.ENG status in the province of Ontario, or be eligible to be licensed in PEO.
  • 3 to 5 years of structural design experience; comprehensive knowledge of structure design codes is considered an asset.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD is a must.
  • Knowledge of SAP 2000, SolidWorks.
  • Drafting experience is considered an asset.
  • Ability to efficiently read and interpret building egress/layout/elevation drawings.
  • Experience with storage platform design or inspection is considered an asset.
  • Experience in dealing with building permit is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Ability to think methodically, to design, plan, and coordinate projects.
  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills with the ability to take initiative.
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin is considered an asset.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this role, the design engineer will work closely to support the Engineering Manager with various projects and tasks such as;

 

  • Drafting and design
  • Site Inspections (As assigned by Engineering Manager)
  • Collecting information for engineering or drafting
  • Assume project permit applications
  • Confidently answer engineering questions from internal and external parties

Salary will be determined based on candidate experience.
